Feature Request: Active MCP Server Count Indicator
Problem

Currently, there's no visual indication of how many MCP servers are actively running. This leads to:

• Forgotten active servers after completing tasks
• Unnecessary token consumption and context window bloat
• Reduced efficiency due to background processing from unused servers

Proposed Solution

Add a numeric badge to the "MCP Servers" icon in the top navigation that displays the count of currently active servers.

Visual Example:

[MCP Servers] → [MCP Servers ②]

Benefits

• Immediate awareness: Users can quickly see active server count at a glance
• Resource optimization: Encourages users to disable unused servers, reducing token usage
• Better workflow management: Serves as a visual reminder to clean up after task completion
• Improved UX: Reduces cognitive load of manually tracking server states

Implementation Notes

• Badge should be prominent but not intrusive
• Consider color coding (green for 1-2 servers, amber for 3-4, red for 5+)
• Badge could disappear when no servers are active
• Optional: Hover tooltip showing which specific servers are active

This feature would benefit the entire community by promoting more efficient resource usage and better development workflows.

I would go,further and say add total tools next to it or in place of it. Copilot has been trying out Virtual Tool collections if you have more than 128 tools. With good effect.
