openai-native: missing thoughts output

Description

Recently switched from kilocode:anthropic/claude-sonnet-4 to openai-native:o3-high to give it a try and I noticed that thoughts output were missing. So I tried to run the same prompt using kilocode:openai/o3 and openai-native:o3-high and we can clearly see the thougths output is missing using openai-native:

Thanks for the report. Probably has something to do how the native API is responded - it might not support streaming

Thanks for the quick reply! Is that fixable client side? I've noticed that I'm running in a lot of Kilo Code is having trouble... errors when using the openai-native provider and I'm assuming that's due to the missing thoughts outputs but I may be wrong. That's a lot of context (I paid for), and it would also help in debugging prompts.

I suspect the missing reasoning is because we currently use the Chat Completions API, while streaming reasoning summaries only works with the Responses API (although the docs are not super clear about it).

I don't think that's related, I think the missing thoughts outputs is a display issue. It would be great if you could provide us with some more context/screenshots about those errors.

I was assuming that thoughts were added to the context and was helping the model - but it's maybe just o3 which is less capable. I switched back to Claude since openai-native:o3-high was not really convenient without thoughts and barely usable due to the relatively high volume of errors but I'll give it another try and send reports here. Too bad, I've a lot of credits on openai.

We're just a proxy for OpenRouter, so yeah they have it
