What is needed to discover a fan device in homeassistant?

Hello, I have a custom device that, for the purpose of this question, implements a hvacFanCtrl cluster with four values (1-4). I have made an external converter (as posted below). In Zigbee2MQTT the fan_mode is exposed properly, i.e. I can fully control my device from the zigbee2mqtt UI, re-interview it etc.. The issue is that Z2M never posts a discovery message to homeassistant. I am monitoring my MQTT server and while Z2M posts a lot of discover messages, there's no fan to be seen.

Solved. the exposes e.fan() appears to be broken but e.enum() works.
