Unmaintained?

So, has support for this stalled? Given the heavy usage of this crate, does it need a new maintainer? I see no releases in three years, lots of open pull requests, and no movement towards a 1.x release. Thoughts?

Public fork or another alternative makes sense, faster_hex is the only maintained option for now

From the looks of their contributions graph, @KokaKiwi has been back from a contribution hiatus since late April - though they don't appear to have updated anything in this repository since their return.
