DAVx5 changes not synced to Thunderbird

I recently started to use Radicale to synchronize on my local network from Windows10 / Thunderbird to and from Android (via DAVx5).
Sync of Calendar events and tasks go well both ways.
Sync of the Address book goes well from Thunderbird to Android. But address-book changes from Android to Thunderbird do not get synced: no new addresses, nor changes in addresses.

In the log, I see several problems. For example when changing an existing address on Android:

Any idea how to resolve this very welcome.

"204" means an existing item was updated.

When adding an address in Android, the number of items in Radicale as shown on the web-interface does not increase.

As long as only updates of existing VCARDs are made, no additional item will appear on server side.

Aha. That is right: an item was updated in that case. But it does not update on Thunderbird.

Yes, the last part of my question refers to situations where I made a new item on Android. An extra item does never show in the Radicale collection.

Aha. That is right: an item was updated in that case. But it does not update on Thunderbird.

Did you trigger a refresh in Thunderbird? Changes are not instant visible, clients have to pull them again (on trigger or regular basis).

You mean you create a new item in Android, but it's not appearing then in Radicale? Have you seen related PUT request in log at all and if so, was it successful (result "201")?

Yes, I tried many times. Trigger manually; re-start Thunderbird; re-start the PC. Stop and start the Radicale server.

Have you seen related PUT request in log at all and if so, was it successful (result "200")?

I see only the kind of PUT statement as quoted in my first post: "[INFO] PUT response status ... 204 No Content".
For Android changes I have never seen a "200".

What I could try to do is to make a log as short as possible with one change in Thunderbird and one change in Android. Would it be helpful if I post that here?

If you see no "PUT" after creating a new item, then something is going wrong on client side.

If you see an "PUT" related to an update from one client but the other client is not showing the change after resync check for a "REPORT" request from the other client.

For me it looks like client/connectivity related issue, not server side.

After some more testing:
I do see a PUT when a change is made on Android. Also, these changes do show up in the Radicale collection (I see it when I download the VCF). But, when syncing Thunderbird, the new Android stuff does not get there.
What should I see in the Radicale-log when Thunderbird requests to download changes?
Or more generally, is there a white-paper explaining the Radicale log?

Usually clients run a regular PROPFIND or REPORT to check for updates.

Potentially better to read the related RFCs and in your Thunderbird case watch the client log.
