Tracing the Extensions Framework #1754
Description
In the recent effort to increase observability across our stack we missed off the inclusion of spans and events to the extensions framework. This would be an excellent inclusion that would help authors write and troubleshoot their own extensions - especially the parts interacting with the operator/topology, data bindings etc
