BYD Seagull gets 5 seats

The small BYD Seagull, or as it’s known in South America, BYD Dolphin Mini, debuted with 4 seats, however in Colombia it now gets 5 seats instead.
BYD Colombia’s technical documents now show the BYD Dolphin Mini only available with 5 seats. However, we still don’t know if the 4 and 5 seat versions will be sold side-by-side in other markets.
Brazil will soon also get this 5 seat version - that has been long awaited by brazilian potential costumers.

I'm still thorn between LFP and Sodium... I live in a extreme weather region: -5ºC in winter, +40ºC in summer.

Pedro, how do you see Sodium against LFP for cars in the longer term? I believe sodium is a no-brainer for stationary solutions but am still torn how far can producers bring sodium solutions for e-mobility. Maybe better density with Al or graphene?

Theoretically, that would save some 40kg of weight. Would it fit in the same bracket, though? What is Wh/L density?

At my company, we are currently in the process of installing graphene-li-ion battery with up to 5C recommended charge rate which I see as a great potential to lower fixed grid costs for fast chargers which are prohibitively expensive right now (0,7€/kWh without subscription). However, I do not see graohene making its way to car cells which is a shame. Though, I guess Al or Si-based cells make more sense due to higher energy density...

@rgornik isn't graphene already the anode side for all Li-ion batteries?

I think that the next generation of sodium-ion batteries will have a volumetric energy density around 300 Wh/L at the cell level and 200 Wh/L at the pack level (with CTP technology). Indeed inferior to NCM and LFP technologies.

@dtmonterrey commonly used material for anode is graphite. Graphene has less problems with dendrides etc. and is considered as a super material. Although with the battery we will now start to test we see less energy density (some 160Wh/kg which is quite bad). It is important to mention not many producers are working with this material since it is quite hard to scale its production
