Thanks the responses, however, they didn't really address my primary question. Can I upgrade to the paid / premium version of FullCalendar after I implement the backpack calendar package ie will it break the backpack-fullcalendar integration?

Why this question?

I am looking to use, from the FullCalendar premium version:

• timeline views
• printer friendly options

[perhaps the above is easily achievable through normal backpack?]

Also, perhaps these two features are available through the backpack-calendar option but I could not tell from the docs / backpack demo

• repeatable events [I didn't notice the fields to support this in the backpack docs https://backpackforlaravel.com/products/calendar-operation]
• ability to drag and drop from a list of options on the side to the calendar as shown in the FullCalendar Demo

I'm trying to answer your questions one by one below:

Answer: Docs of Fullcalendar.io premium feature mentions that Its pre-built bundle automatically includes the adaptive/premium plugin. Backpack's Full calendar uses the same global bundle. So, It does not seem it will break anything.

Q2. Timeline views & printer friendly options?

Answer: As I found out on timeline-view & print optimization docs., the pre-built bundle can automatically include these premium features and plugins. You just need to pass their configuration options to enable them. You can pass options via:

For Q3. Repeatable / Recurring events. For example every Tuesday at 3pm from February 4 to Sep 30. This normally involves a switch to enable the feature which would intern create calendar entries for every Tuesday at 3pm. These events typically have a "parent id" to facilitate global changes eg. change every future event to 4pm on Tuesday instead of 3pm.

For Q4. This is sad. This is the key productivity feature of the calendar view, IMO. The view is pretty but from a productivity POV, being able to drag from a list, for example a list of people, rooms, equipment, etc. makes the UI powerful.

While I do not have the skills to do such, do you think the backpack-calendar app can be extended to provide such, with a skilled developer, or is this pushing the capabilities?

Recurring events are dependent on your model and application setup. Such setups are supposed to come from the application end. Calendar Operation is just a presentation layer in addition to the list view.
