Getting digital envelope routines unspported #1

When I pull down main or even the first branches such as 01_01/01_02 and do npm install and ng serve I get this build error
Error: error:0308010C:digital envelope routines::unsupported
doing an npm audit fix --force and then ng serve
This version of CLI is only compatible with Angular versions ^16.0.0,
but Angular version 11.0.9 was found instead.
I get that I can switch versions...but since the target audience is learners...having a newer footprint that is buildable should be available. Note I don't want to draw shade on the Angular Learning series...they are very well put together and have been really helpful. :-)
