Hello, I first started 4K@60 desktops using my old Nvidia Quadro P620 GPU's. With those, i could get close to 60 fps with hevc just fine, but the 2GB VRAM was not enough for streaming wayland desktops. Opening a browser and playing a video would eventually result in OOM errors.
So i got a cheap AMD radeon Pro WX 3100 with 4GB VRAM, but to my disappointment, it could only do about 37 fps/hevc.
I was looking for single slot GPU's for my server capable of doing close to 60 fps, so i decided to splurge, and just received a WX 7100, thinking surely it must be able to do that.
But i can only get around 45 fps using hevc with it, and H.264 is a measily 17 fps!
How can this be? Are AMD cards really this bad at hevc? should i look for a single slot nvidia card with 4GB VRAM or more? Any experience from other users would be highly welcome here..
I have yet to try a more recent vbios from techpowerup collection, but this was really a disappointment, as i paid a lot for this card..
EDIT: i have tried 1440 resolution, it does 60 fps. But i need 4K
I have tried a bunch of vbios'es, nothing helps
I can't believe i paid this much money for a card with hardware that should EASILY do 60 fps, and it's just this specific card that has major issues encoding HEVC, and is completely unsuitable for sunshine streaming?
Thanks for any help
