question: shelly blu trv switch off behaviour

hi again,

i bought a shelly blu trv to test it out a bit 😀

so far everything works fine.

only if i switch of the heating in the home app, it switches automatically back on after a few seconds.

is this behaviour correct? or have i forgotten to configure something?

Hi,
you are absolutely correct!

The reason is simple:
Matter doesn't support an heat only thermostat without the off mode.
Shelly trv doesn't have an off mode.
So when the controller send off the plugin sends back to heat mode.

Concerning the delay, it is normal cause the blu trv has an internal timer before it sends the commands to the trv and the plugin has a timer too to deal with controller that sends fast writes when user keeps the finger on the temperature setting.

ah ok. i understand. i asked this because other implementations are setting the parameter "enable trv" in shelly blu or the parameter "enable automatic temperature control" in shelly trv gen1 to false (and the valve position to 0%) when heating is deactivated and back to true when the heating is reactivated.

Sure,
but I deal with Matter.

I use what I have and for the rest adapt.

Unless we want to respond to off command from the controller(s) setting a lower temperature (what temperature?).

Then we have the issue to set a new temperature (what temperature?) when the controller sends again on command...

try to answer your questions:

1. Unless we want to respond to off command from the controller(s) setting a lower temperature (what temperature?).
   no need to set another temperature. the switch off command needs two actions:
   a) set parameter "enable automatic temperature control" to off
   b) set the valve position to 0
   (the trv remembers the currently set temperature)

2. Then we have the issue to set a new temperature (what temperature?) when the controller sends again on command...
   no need to set a temperature here too. after setting the parameter "enable automatic temperature control" back to to on,
   the trv then starts to regulate to the last set temperature.
