• The ideation process was diverse and helped us shape a clearer direction, though I didn’t expect it to take this much time
• Communication within the group wasn’t as smooth as I had hoped.

This phase reminded me how essential consistent communication is for staying aligned, and I hope we can improve that moving forward.

1. What I learned
   It took us longer than expected to choose a domain, which reduced the time we had to converge on a research question. I learned it's important to move faster than planned to allow room for unexpected delays.

2. What went well
   Our group meeting schedule worked very well. Everyone consistently showed up and contributed meaningfully. Using majority rule for decision-making proved effective and kept the process democratic and efficient.

3. What could be improved
   Our group's organization and decisiveness could be strengthened. Assigning a dedicated coordinator role could help ensure that all parts of the project are progressing in sync. This added structure would also make decision-making more efficient by giving us a clearer overview of where things stand.

What I Learned

I realized how important it is not just to generate ideas, but also to narrow them down quickly. We had great discussions, but I learned that having early alignment on priorities can really help speed things up and create clearer direction.

What Went Well

Our team showed great commitment — I appreciated how everyone stayed engaged, respectful, and open to different perspectives throughout the process. My teammates were also consistently supportive and encouraging in their feedback, which was really motivating and helped maintain a positive team spirit.

What Could Be Improved

Sometimes we found ourselves circling around the same ideas without a clear path forward. I think we could benefit from more clearly defined roles and expectations. There were also moments where misalignment or silence slowed our momentum, so improving communication and check-ins could make a big difference in staying on track.

What I learned

We spent more time than expected deciding on a domain, which left us with less time to focus on shaping the research question. I’ve realized the importance of moving quicker in the early stages.

We sometimes spent too much time in the idea-gathering phase. Improving our communication skills and decision-making speed could help us use our time more efficiently in future tasks.

What I Learned
I learned the critical importance of proactive alignment and swift decision-making during the initial stages. While detailed discussions are valuable, I observed that a clearer, earlier consensus on our core direction could significantly streamline subsequent efforts.

The team's commitment and consistent engagement in our communication(Most of which i have missed this past few days).

what could be improved

• My online presence, despite the frequent power outages and having other urgent commitments.

• While our discussions were productive, the challenge of converging quickly on a clear direction—as seen with refining our research question—suggests we could benefit from more structured decision-making processes.

🧠 What I Learned

This was a new and eye-opening experience. Learning how to craft a good research question that is actionable and appropriate for data science was more difficult than expected. I also realized how powerful it is to connect research with personal experiences — writing about my mother’s asthma helped humanize the problem and made it more relatable.

Working in a collaborative setting and learning from others helped shape my understanding of problem framing. Reflecting on real-world issues gave a strong foundation to our domain exploration.

I struggled initially with choosing a topic and understanding how to scope it for a data science project. More upfront discussion about the criteria for a “good” data science question would have helped me frame it better from the start.
