What about releases?

I notice that the last stable release was a while ago (2014).

What about newer releases. I can see that there have been beta-releases. I can also see that there's a lot of activity... PRs, commits, etc.

So, my questions are...

• How stable is the latest master? What about last beta release?
• What plans for the next release?
• What are the longer term goals of the project? What is the team structure? I couldn't find much info here.

I'm asking because, we're thinking about using this library in production (for some small features currently), and ideally, if need be, I can help with contributing. I work for a media company.

I'm also trying to understand the licensing clauses. So, anything to help/support us move forward will be appreciated.
