Show context menu when right clicking on selected text

Right clicking enables magninifer instead of text tools when selecting text. I don't know if it worked before, but it would be great if the default context menu would open after right clicking on a text selection.

Right clicking has always brought up the magnifier. When I added text tools, I choose to put them on <control>-click to not affect the existing primary action of the right mouse button.

Your suggestion (with a slight modification) is a good one - if the right click is on selected text, then show the context menu, else show the magnifier seems like a good compromise: if the text is not selected, then the click would show the magnifier as it always has, so as not to surprise the casual user.

Thanks you so much. The main reason I'm asking for the context menu is to translate the selected text. Like in Panels.

Thanks! I use Quicktime Player's context menu the same way, but I will need to do more research to see what function calls to make to get translations like it does.

The Lookup item is implemented by the RVMenuItem class and the Translate item is implemented by the RVTranslateMenuItem class. But both are in an Apple private framework so I can't use them in an app store app like Simple Comic. I could create a hidden NSTextView, populate it with the selected text, then steal its contextual menu items for Simple Comic's menu.

Then maybe we shouldn't complicate things and just drop my feature request. What do you think? 🙂
