YAML outdated on ESPHome 2025.10.5

Today I tried to install the provided yaml on my AirGradient Open Air O-1PST and ESPHome complained about multiple things:

• framework version needs to be bumped up to at least 5.4.2
• platform_version accordingly to https://github.com/pioarduino/platform-espressif32/releases/download/54.03.21-2/platform-espressif32.zip
• source accordingly to: pioarduino/framework-espidf@https://github.com/pioarduino/esp-idf/releases/download/v5.4.2/esp-idf-v5.4.2.zip
• API password is marked as deprecated and needs to be changed to API key

What version of ESPHome were you using? I'm able to compile it on 2025.10.1 and I think the most recent fully released is 2025.10.5 but going to test it in just a bit.

If you are on the same versions, can you please paste your full YAML with any private data redacted? Maybe you have some older parameters that are no longer needed.

Also, including the actual error from the output will be helpful in figuring it out.

I'm on ESPHome 2025.10.5
The error is: "This feature requires at least framework version 5.4.2"

I do not have changed anything in the yaml, the error appears immediately when pasting.

Are you using the full file? I recommend using
https://github.com/MallocArray/airgradient_esphome/blob/main/airgradient-open-air-o-1pst.yaml

This is the foundation of the configuration and it references the other packages.

Inside of this main file there isn't anything about i2c, so I suspect you are using the full file.

Using the file I linked, it compiled without error on 2025.10.5 for me.

Yep, looks like the full_config version is out of date. I'll generate a new one this weekend and update it. The standard file should be working though.

Regarding the password, this was the other error: WARNING API 'password' authentication has been deprecated since May 2022 and will be removed in version 2026.1.0. Please migrate to the 'encryption' configuration. See https://esphome.io/components/api.html#configuration-variables

I just pushed updated full_config files if you prefer to use those. They should compile now.
