Authorization Rule Target is Null

I am attempting to write a rule where different roles can edit the object at different states of work flow.

BusinessRules.AddRule(typeof(InvoiceEdit), new InvoiceEditRule(AuthorizationActions.EditObject));

[Serializable]
        public class InvoiceEditRule : Csla.Rules.AuthorizationRule
        {
            public InvoiceEditRule(AuthorizationActions action) : base(action){}

            protected override void Execute(IAuthorizationContext context)
            {
                if(context.ApplicationContext.User == null)
                {
                    return;
                }

                var target = (InvoiceEdit)context. Target;

                if (context.ApplicationContext.User.IsInRole("Finance") && !target. Exported)
                {
                    context.HasPermission = true;
                }
                else if (context.ApplicationContext.User.IsInRole("Manager") && !target. Approved)
                {
                    context.HasPermission = true;
                }
                else if (context.ApplicationContext.User.IsInRole("ProjectManager") && !target. Approved)
                {
                    context.HasPermission = true;
                }
            }
        }

When the rule runs, context.Target is null. Any suggestions?

iirc, your rule needs a constructor where you set a flag indicating that you want Target to be populated.

Thank you for responding, but I am missing the flag in the AuthorizationRule, BusinessRule, or BusinessRuleBase. Should I be using another base class?
