Change default format of SmartDate for the whole project

We use SmartDate extensively but in one project we would like to change the default format from 'd' to something different. Is it possible to do it for the whole project?

I found the method SetDefaultFormatString on SmartDate.
I guess it should be set in Program.cs , static void Main (for winforms application)?

It doesn't work in program.cs but works if you call the method in the "main" form of your application.
I tested it with an existing MDI application, putting the code in the constructor of the form and it's working : )
