Support for Opening Password-Protected PDFs in Viewer

Currently, password-protected PDFs cannot be opened in the PDF Viewer. When encountering such files, the user is unable to access the content.

I would like the PDF Viewer to support password-protected documents. Ideally, when opening such a file:

• The viewer should detect that a password is required.
• The user should be prompted to enter the password.
• Upon entering the correct password, the document should be displayed as normal.

Describe alternatives you've considered:

• Opening the PDF in an external application that supports password-protected files (less convenient, breaks workflow).

Password support would enable handling of secure documents directly within the PDF Viewer without requiring external tools.

So the end-user would be responsible for entering the password? Not the developer?

I think opening the modal dialog as a prompt would be a good out-of-the-box approach in this case. The problem is that it is to opinionated.

I think the best approach would be to introduce a new callback to the PdfViewer that the developer can use, and then implement their own prompt. Regardless of whether it's a modal, alert, or some other method of user input.

Yes, exactly — when such a document is opened, the PDF Viewer should detect that a password is required. At that point, an input element should be presented (I would generally suggest a dialog with a text field).

The end-user is responsible for providing the password. After the user enters the password and confirms, the PDF Viewer should validate it and, if correct, display the encrypted PDF.
