calculate and remove degeneracies from mesh

I want a Python function that can calculate how many degeneracies are in my input mesh and remove the degeneracies

We have these functions available in python:

findDegenerateFaces
fixMultipleEdges

to fix degenerations we use decimateMesh with optimizeVertexPos = False, sometimes if it is not enough one can call subdivideMesh too.
