LFRic Apps Standard Suites

Hi All,

From vn2.1 we've introduced 2 standard suites for LFRic Apps. These are simple cylc suites that run an lfric atm job and are intended as an example of what an LFRic cylc suite might look like. We have a suite each for EX1A and Azspice, with both running an lfric_atm job based on an nwp-gal9 config with a C12_MG mesh. They extract lfric apps and lfric core, compile and generate the mesh and compile and generate lfric_atm. These suites are available at:

• u-dn704 (ex1a)
• u-dn674 (azspice)

Please let us know if there are any issues/improvements that could be made.

1. Will they be updated with new LFRic-Apps releases or are they "frozen"?
2. Are there any plans to make a suite for Monsoon? (I don't have access to the new machine yet. I can adapt these myself but don't want to reinvent the wheel if somebody is already working on it.)

Hi Dennis,

Yes, we'll update these and tag them with each lfric apps release.
I'm not setting a suite up for the xc40s which is where Monsoon currently is. But I would imagine that u-dn704 should work once the collaboration partition has been setup on the EXs - I'm not sure what the timescales are for this.

There's a typo in the suite name - it should be u-dn674?

Also, if you're looking for feedback, a great improvement would be to have the option to split the run into several CRUNs.

This looks useful. Are you documenting the standard suites on https://github.com/MetOffice/lfric_apps or similar?

@james-bruten-mo Is there a standalone suite with a Monsoon3 configuration yet?
