USB MIDI?

I see there is UART driven MIDI, but don't see USB MIDI support. Would help use newer keyboards. (There is Bluetooth MIDI too)

Indeed. I have no such USB or Bluetooth gear. But the USB uses the tiny-USB and the cherry USB stacks which may even already support that. If not it can probably be added like I did with e.g. the Xbox game controllers. Feel free to give it a try.

@harbaum Yeah, it looks like the Cherry USB stack does support USB MIDI. I guess there would have be to an OSD setting to select between old school 5 pin din and usb.

And you'll have to forward the data from the FPGA to the MCU since that drives the USB. Sounds like a nice exercise.

But this is something for someone who has a) the skills and b) the interest. I personally don't see the point in connecting modern music gear to a classic mac. I do own a Roland MT-32 for the genuine retro fun and for some quick MIDI playback I use some cheap SAM2695 synth.

Yeah - There are alot of USB MIDI converters out there that are cheap. I have several keyboards with it USB MIDI. One with 3mm jack that can be software switched between sustain and MIDI output.

I am not going to discourage anyone. But why would one implement this for such a rare use case?
