Incorrect terminal display

Hello! First of all thanks for your work, it's very useful to me.
However, I've encountered some issues working through a terminal. I use kitty and got such troubles:

1. neovim displays broken lines, don't resize properly
2. I've got error such as 'xterm-kitty': unknown terminal type., however I've enabled enableAllTerminfo. I guess it's caused by <letter>~nix~case~hack in share/terminfo/....

I use nix-darwin configured with linux-builder on it.

The first is fixed when logging via SSH. However, I'd like to see a way fixing that for QEMU running in shell (from nixos-shell)

If your terminfo is nenableAllTerminfoot detected because of case collisions, I don't think this is an issue that can be solved with nixos-shell.
You need to provide a valid TERM variable that is also present in the virtual machine.
One workaround would be to do:

export TERM=xterm-256color nixos-shell

Or you your could try to set up TERMINFO= in a way that would only include kitty and no case-insensitive collisions.

Well, TERM=kitty will work, because there's no k~nix~case~hack. May be we need to inherit some options from here?

You can use useNixStoreImage in your nixos configuration, it would be significant slower because the qemu image has be rebuild on every start, but it should solve your option.
I wouldn't want this to be the default for that reason.

Well, that option may sometimes make sense for case insensitive file systems like MacOS APFS, but the image creating really bad idea for some defaults.

Thanks for answer! But what do you think about the other question? May we have some defaults to correctly display shell? Just like SSH does, with an auto-resizing caused by SIGWINCH and the correct displaying lines in programs like a vim, less/more and so on which operate with a shell as a window, not a serial text.
