As I understand it, this open discussion requires assistance from the VictoriaMetrics development team? 😉 |

Creating a software request
Formal software information
Are there similar/alternative software titles available with DietPi-Software?
What makes your requested software better than the above solutions, if available?
How can DietPi make the installation easier or compatible, than following the install instructions or do APT installation, if available?
More context:
Debian's build policy and further software delivery via apt repositories require all source code to be hosted on Debian's GitLab project. Since VMUI uses many lightweight npm packages, the maintainers decided to remove VMUI from the builds and deliver only the database, without the web interface because they don't want to resolve all issues with npm. It is worth noting that the Prometheus web UI was added a long time ago by one of the Prometheus maintainers for interaction and was not subject to such policies. The maintainers responded with a brief "no" to the suggestion to download pre-compiled VMUI static files from the VictoriaMetrics repository.
Can you provide the installation steps that you would suggest DietPi-Software to do?
Here is a script that you can use or adapt for your needs: https://gist.github.com/denisgolius/8b38b4233207627e46c6f8fe4efc3487
Are you willing to help maintaining the software installation, e.g. in case of needed setup changes due to updates etc.? This is not needed, but could speed up our decision to implement it, as man power is always a topic 😉.
