Interestingly enough, this same institution has an [email](zimmervermittlung@ethz.ch) which you can try to spam and ask for housing. For some people it works, and they get pretty good places at WoKos (more on that later).

One of the major housing advertising websites for the whole of Switzerland. It targets a broader market: also big flats and houses are offered there. Many offers, but also many respondents. Very tough to get through. I got some offers through there, but the ones from the previous two were better. But it’s certainly good to keep an eye on this website.

today is Monday, I was enjoying the weekend, so had no time to write a blog. Sidenote: last two weeks I was working on my 'Bookshelf' and 'Projects' folder, rather than this blog. Sorry for this ;)

What? Michal enjoying the weekend? Yeah, so it happens, I am slowed down a bit this semester, and even though it is exam season I am trying not be completely die and have a life in between a little bit. Strange, also getting used to it. At the same time I am kinda worried that I have underestimated the exam, so the last few days will be intense that is for sure.

The story that I wanted to tell today comes from Saturday. My lovely friend Max and I we were practicing our Swiss German together. It is our shared hobby, and as neither of us is Swiss we at least have the courage to speak with one another, and that is good. I try my best to consume as much content as possible, but poor Max, poor Max, he only learns from me. And we were in a supermarket, and a friend of mine (who is Swiss) heard Max talking in Swiss German. And he thought: "That sounds like Michal." That is weird. So he went to investigate and indeed, not too far he also found me!

I have just noticed that over the course of February, I have only managed to produce one blog, the one being from the last week. This is pretty bad, but I think it very well summarizes the turbulent nature of that month. Hopefully the next one will be calmer.

This week I had to say a farewell to a lot of people I hold dear. One of my housemates have moved out, and two people left for a thesis abroad. This was bitter sweet: I realize how fast the time here in Zurich has flown, through all the struggles and successes, I did not even notice that 3 semesters have gone by. I feel like I have done very little, but also way too much. I want to rest, and I want more of everything too. At the same time, I am EXTREMELY GRATEFUL. People I have met over the last year and a half taught me a lot about myself. I am extremely grateful for all the times we had together, all the lunches we shared, the partys, and the morning lectures where we thought we would die, but somehow we did not.

I guess that is how life goes. You win some, you lose some. It also makes me jealous to see other people move forward, while I stay behind. Mostly in my life it was always me to go away from others, not the reverse. Makes me want to move my fat ass too, to another country, to another experience, to another life lesson. Let's see where the next chapter takes me.

On Thursday, my friend Max texts me: "Hey let's go to Paris for a hackathon." Hackathon are competitions where you build out some idea / product for a day, and then you present it. I am not usually spontaneous, but a few weeks ago at a hackathon I got such a good introduction to someone and kept some interesting conversations going afterwards that I thought -- let's go. This is the website of the [event](https://cerebralvalley.ai/e/gemini-3-paris-hackathon) btw.

Booking tickets late is stupid, costly, and stressful. So is packing, and as I used my university backpack I forgot to take out my set of screwdrivers, which was taken a way from me on security. So was bike lock, that I tried to import to be able to use with my friends bike... Anyways...

I called up my friend Theophile, who lives in Paris, if I can stay at his. Had a wonderful time, as always. We went to the Hackathon, and we had an idea from the start: we wanted to use AI for forensic sketching. And that is what we eventually did. A nice little video of our product, called ShareLock, can be found [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvtD1TvSsiA). Other than that, we have been talking to bunch of interesting people, chilling and eating free food (I actually ate too much, and the chair under me brok -- not even kidding). Eventually, the judges gave us 2nd place out of 44! This was amazing, since coming such a long way, I wanted to make the most out of it.
