Request: Silent Tool Usage

Hi Mikael,

I have written a small script that automates the tool for the Document, Compare and Export options.
The script uses the Appid Tenant Id and Secret setup for authentication. Its in development hence the use of the Secret.

It creates the required json files for the 3 options listed with the AppId use case dynamically.
It has three splatted configurations for usage depending on whether the desired use case is the export, document or compare option.
It then calls and loads the CloudAPIPowerShellManagement module and runs that directly bypassing the BAT files

Example of usage and splat

This is great and I cannot praise the way you have approached the tool highly enough.

What I have tried to do and have yet to succeed at is working out a way to use the more detailed Documentation option that is available when using an App registration with the Interactive user credential usage of the tool.
The scenario this is desired for would be during a new customer onboarding.
Being able to export and document the environment immediately with the richer config options the AppId process offers would help immensely
Rationale:
Creating and configuring the App registration is a Change Request dependent process.
That is fine, however during Onboarding there are lots of moving parts and to constrain the scope of these moving parts it seems typical to limit changes to the absolute minimum.
This makes the tool less useable at this specific time.

Being able to use an Individuals Admin account to get a snapshot prior to any changes is invaluable at this juncture hence the request.

Its a sincere request, but may also hold implications security or functionality wise that I have not thought of due to naivety on my part.
If so let me know and I will stop thinking of it.

I have ADD so despite English being my only language, I may have missed out connecting some of the concepts in this message together correctly.
If more clarity is needed let me know and I will edit and amend to better explain.

I appreciate this isn't your primary life goal so consider this the most humblest of requests you encounter here.

Thank you for the kind words!

Let me see if I get this right. There are 2 issues her:

1. You want to document with additional Output configurations. These settings should all be in the BulkDocumentation.json file. Every option in the UI has a setting in the json file. Do all the settings you want in Bulk export UI and then save the file.

2. Document before AppId and Secret is created. If Graph PowerShell module is already approved in the Tenant, I'd just do it manually. There might be an option of using an external toke e.g. from the Intune portal but I have not implemented Bring Your Own Token support yet, and not sure it would work. Another option would be to add support for logging in with username and password for Silent Batch job. I would not expect this to work because I hope these accounts are protected with MFA.
