Arch Linux / AUR Down — GitHub Mirror Workaround

1) pacman (Official Repos)

pacman does NOT use the Arch website directly. It uses mirrors.

Edit mirror list:
sudo nano /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist

Move reliable mirrors to the top:
Server = https://mirror.rackspace.com/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch
Server = https://mirrors.kernel.org/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch
Server = https://ftp.halifax.rwth-aachen.de/archlinux/$repo/os/$arch

Refresh:
sudo pacman -Syy

2) AUR is down — use GitHub instead

AUR packages are just PKGBUILDs.
Many are mirrored on GitHub.

Example: install paru without AUR
git clone https://github.com/Morganamilo/paru.git
cd paru
makepkg -si

3) Generic workflow for any AUR package

Search GitHub:
" PKGBUILD"

Then:
git clone
cd
makepkg -si

4) Important notes

• pacman binaries cannot come from GitHub
• Installed AUR packages keep working
• Updates fail only because PKGBUILD fetch fails
• Manual builds are the correct Arch way during outages

5) Arch mindset

Arch gives control, not guarantees.
Knowing manual PKGBUILD builds = real Arch skill.
