bug: Device specific notification problem

I have a Infinix Note 50X 5G. The thing is, i have disabled Battery Optimization for both microg RE and youtube revanced extended, enabled auto-start for both apps, and disabled Sleep Standby Optimization. I've installed microg RE first and registered google account in there. Then i installed youtube revanced extended app afterwards. I restarted the phone.

Microg RE was active for a few hours before it eventually disconnected. I only get notifications when i open youtube app, occasionally i had to restart the phone again to get microg RE to push notifications.

I don't have this problem when i was using my Redmi Note 9S, even with the old microg by revanced.

This time, installed Microg RE with the normal youtube Revanced. All with the same steps, but leaving youtube Revanced with battery optimization on. Restarted the phone and no notifications. Then i force stopped Microg RE, i can confirm that notifications came in for a few hours but once i restarted the phone again to test...Microg RE decided to not send any notifications again. Its a dilemma.

@chia97 Check if your device has any additional restrictions on background services.

Searching on the internet I was able to find something like "App Launch" Grant this permission to MicroG and it is expected that it will work.

@WSTxda I actually already did, "App Launch" is listed under "Auto-start management" in my phone. Still did not work all the time after multiple re-installations with MicroG RE and Youtube Revanced. Now i'm trying another fresh re-installation with MicroG RE and Youtube Morphe. I'll confirm the results again later. 🙏

@WSTxda Re-install microg re, unhide microg re, open it, disable battery optimization, enable app launch in auto-start management.

Install morphe manager, patch latest youtube apk.

Install youtube morphe, open youtube morphe, sign in youtube account, disable battery optimization, enable app launch in auto-start management.

Restart device.

Open youtube morphe and close it, 1 notification instantly came in. Few hours later without touching the notification nor the application, swiped away the notification, suddenly 2 different notifications came in. Open youtube morphe and check notifications and realized the time when those were sent internally in the app was a few hours ago. The 2 notifications were late by few hours when they were pushed to me in notification panel.

Restart device.

Did not open youtube morphe and microg re
after a few hours, a notification came in on the notification panel, which is late by 30+ minutes. Another "Live now" notification (different from normal notification) is not displayed on notification panel but shown inside the app.

Very weird behavior overall. At least it haven't totally prevent notifications from pushing through yet. I'll report back if MicroG RE stop functioning and not push any notifications.

@chia97 Thanks for the report, i'm currently looking into this issue and i think i've found the problem. Regarding battery optimization and background process limitations, I only recommend disabling whatever is possible, unfortunately it's not possible to get around this.

@WSTxda I leave Youtube Morphe and Microg RE alone for more than 12+ hours, microg re woke up and sent 5 notifications all at once. Checking the youtube morphe app internally, all notifications again are late by few hours apart. Its very long delayed notifications for now just to let you know. Sorry to disturb again.

@chia97 Please use unpatched YouTube for a few days with push notifications enabled, and see if the late notifications also happen with unpatched YouTube.

It may be stock YT has the same behavior and it's not specific to microG or Morphe.

@chia97 Complementing @LisoUseInAIKyrios comment, If the delay problem is indeed with MicroG, try changing the update interval in the Cloud messaging settings, try 2 min or 60 secs.

@LisoUseInAIKyrios @WSTxda Um, i actually have an immediate observation to make. I enabled original Youtube, enable notifications for Youtube, updated Youtube to latest build 20.51.39. Disabled battery optimization on Youtube, however "App Launch" is not available for original Youtube in "Auto-start management".

Restart device.

Received notification from original Youtube on the notification panel. Check internally within the app, only 3 minutes delay when notification was pushed.

Youtube Morphe and MicroG RE pushed the same notification 19 minutes later which is right now on the notification panel as i am typing.

Hmm, So the problem is really related to system restrictions. Did you try enabling "App launch" for MicroG and YouTube Morphe and check?

This is in HyperOS, just battery optimization disabled. With no delay in live notifications.

It's really difficult to get around this, but i'll try to find something for it, get back to you here.

It doesn't seem to be a problem related to the gcm registration as i had thought.

@WSTxda Yes, i did enabled App Launch for both MicroG RE and Youtube Morphe as shown in the screenshots.

I'm not sure yet for Live notifications as i haven't receive any right now. But i remembered and noticed that on the old Youtube Revanced paired with MicroG RE, there was Live notifications pushed along with normal notifications, although MicroG RE does not wake up most of the time and only push multiple notifications all at once when it randomly wakes up or i forced stopped MicroG RE.

Also, i've changed the ping intervals of MicroG RE from 5 mins to 2 mins for all of them. I'll report back after i observe long enough for the results.
