Setting Up Azure Account

To create azure account and get $200 Azure credit, go to following link https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/purchase-options/azure-account?icid=portal

Sign in and create account using your email address. I recommend using a new email address solely for this lab purposes.

Fill your credentials

Fill out your card information

Once you have created your Azure free account you will get your $200 free credit.

Setting up Microsoft 365 account

To create Microsoft 365 account for office 365 E5 trial , you can go to this website https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/enterprise/office-365-e5?activetab=pivot:overviewtab

Create and Setup a new Office 365 account (Make sure to use a new email for lab purposes to avoid charges in the future)

Make sure to cancel before your trial ends.

Microsoft will send SMS to your phone so make sure add a valid phone number.

Microsoft will provide domain name for a temporary domain name, you can set up a custom domain later if you want.

Add payment method and fill out the required fields to enable Office 365 E5 trial

Make sure and don’t forget to cancel subscription since we only get 1month for free.

Sign in to your Microsoft office 365 account we just created

Download Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone and set up MFA for our O365 account

Sett up your authenticator app on your phone and approve MFA.

After finished setting up Microsoft Authenticator App, you will be redirected to following page.

Sign In to your Microsoft 365 Admin Center via admin.microsoft.com portal.

To Utilize Microsoft Defender XDR capabilities, we need to enable Microsoft 365 E5 trial license plan. You can learn more about licensing requirements here. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/defender-xdr/prerequisites

Go to Marketplace blade, select all products and filter for microsoft 365 E5

Select Microsoft 365 E5and go to Details

Select Trial one and proceed to check out

Verify we have successfully activated E5 license or not.

Once we have activated, we need to assign the license to our user account. Go to Licenses

Under subscriptions you can see our available licenses, select Microsoft 365 E5

Assign licenses to your user accounts.

Later if you need to cancel your trial subscription before it charges you, you can go to Your Products and select your subscriptions under admin.mircosoft.com portal.
