Term in Question

Patients

Error Description

The term "Patients" is generally used only with humans. PubTator will map terms like "boy", "girl", "woman", "man", and "Patients" to the species "Homo sapiens", but Text2Term will only map "man"

To improve species coverage, map the following terms to "Homo sapiens", regardless of capitalization:

  • patients (plural only, singular can mean something else)
  • boy / boys
  • girl /girls
  • man / men
  • woman / women

This should significantly increase the coverage of "species"

Proposed Correction Type

append value

Proposed Correction

Check to see if a record has a term within the above list. If so, then check if it already has the value "Homo sapiens" (NCBI Taxon 9606). If it does NOT, append the value.
