Hello everyone, My name is Andrei Alexandru Stefan, and I am a Master's student in Computer Science with a focus on Artificial Intelligence. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Bari Aldo Moro (Italy) and currently work as a Full Stack Developer. I have experience working with various technologies across both front-end and back-end development, and I am particularly interested in applying AI techniques to real-world problems. Speaking from a more practical research perspective, I have worked on several interesting projects. One of them was my Bachelor's thesis, which aimed to expand upon the study presented in this paper: https://www.mdpi.com/2079-9292/9/6/881. The CNN used in that research proved to be effective but had limitations in terms of usability and cell detection. My thesis focused on enhancing this approach by implementing real-time automatic cell detection. I integrated and tested various computer vision models, optimizing them for the specific application domain. Another notable project I worked on involved behavioral pattern recognition. By analyzing event logs of human activities such as sleeping, eating, and personal hygiene, I reconstructed behavioral maps to understand an individual's daily routine. This approach allows for continuous behavioral monitoring and anomaly detection, which, while potentially concerning in some contexts, has valuable applications in monitoring patients with chronic illnesses or individuals at risk of severe depression. For example, such a system could help detect early warning signs of suicidal tendencies in prisons, where suicide prevention is a major concern. Additionally, I developed a platform that integrates appointment management, data saving, card management, and a viewer, with 3D space modeling specifically designed for the dental field. This system provides a comprehensive approach for organizing and visualizing patient data in a 3D space, making it easier for practitioners to manage patient appointments and track their treatment progress. These are the experiences that are most relevant to what you might find interesting. I have wanted to participate in Google Summer of Code for a long time, and your organization is the one that inspires me the most and aligns perfectly with my interests. I love solving problems, and I love it even more when I can do so in the medical field. Looking forward to working with you all! Email: a.stefan1@studenti.uniba.it |

Hi [Mentor / OSET Team], I hope you're doing well! My name is Shreyaa Dhatrika, and I’m excited to express my interest in contributing to the Python Expansion of the Open Source Electrophysiological Toolbox (OSET) as part of GSoC 2025. A bit about me—I recently completed my Master’s in Computer Science from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi and currently work at Equifax as a Data Engineer. I’ve had the opportunity to work on some really exciting projects, especially in the healthcare space, where I built end-to-end AI/ML pipelines, implemented RAG architectures for better data search, and developed custom prediction workflows. I’m quite comfortable working with both Python and MATLAB, and I have a strong background in signal processing and biomedical applications—so this project feels like a perfect fit. For this GSoC project, my goal is to help expand OSET’s Python implementation so it mirrors the existing MATLAB toolbox in terms of functionality and performance. I plan to focus on translating remaining modules, building robust cross-language unit tests, packaging the toolbox as a standard Python library, and improving documentation and usability with examples and installation support. I’d also like to introduce CI pipelines and performance benchmarks to ensure the package is sustainable and developer-friendly moving forward. Here’s a rough timeline I’ve planned: Community Bonding (May 20 – June 16): Get familiar with the codebase, engage with the community, and finalize the roadmap with feedback from mentors. Development Phase (June 17 – August 18): First, translate and test modules; next, work on packaging and benchmarking; and then polish the tool with automation and clean architecture. Final Phase (August 19 – September 8): Wrap up testing, write complete documentation, and submit the final deliverables. I’m applying for the full-time (35 hours/week) project track and will be available from 9 AM to 5 PM EST (UTC -4) throughout the summer. I don’t have any vacation or academic conflicts during the GSoC timeline, but I’m flexible if the schedule needs to shift slightly later. I’d love the chance to collaborate on this project and contribute to OSET’s mission of making biomedical signal processing tools more accessible and robust. Thanks so much for considering my proposal—I’m happy to chat further or answer any questions! Warmly, |

Hi, I'm Sahithi Madas, a graduate student in Data Science at SUNY Albany and a Data Engineer Intern at Albany County Local Government, NY. I've been exploring a while now, looking for projects where AI and Data Analytics meet healthcare space. Your project on "Adaptive Closed-loop Neuromodulation" immediately grabbed my attention. The idea of using reinforcement learning in a closed-loop system to personalize brain stimulation - esp. for Parkinson's disease—really resonates with me. I've worked on public health-related data analysis with the New York State Department of Health as a Datat Analyst Intern and built dashboards and machine learning models that involved large-scale health and environmental datasets. Additionally, I've developed predictive models for "Disaster Risk" and "Resale Car Price Predictor" and have experience in Python, PyTorch, and machine learning libraries by building clean ML pipelines. While I haven't worked directly with EEG data yet, I've done real-time signal processing using OpenCV, and I'm confident in my ability to apply similar principles here. I'm particularly excited by the idea of contributing to the data preprocessing and model training stages in reinforced learning (RL). This project felt like a meaningful step in bringing AI and healthcare - something I have always talked about and deeply passionate to contribute. Best, |
