How to debug installation issues: WW3/model/exe/ww3_gint Error 1

I followed these steps on an HPE Cray EX system:

git clone [email protected]:NOAA-EMC/WW3.git
cd WW3
module switch PrgEnv-cray PrgEnv-gnu
module load cray-netcdf
./model/bin/ww3_from_ftp.sh
./model/bin/w3_setup model -c gnu -s NCEP_st4
cd model/bin
./w3_automake

I am getting the following error:

[INFO] list of the programs selected : ww3_strt ww3_bound ww3_outf ww3_outp ww3_trck ww3_grib ww3_gint gx_outf gx_outp ww3_uprstr ww3_grid libww3 ww3_systrk ww3_gspl ww3_prep

...
Processing ww3_gint
---------------------
      Linking ww3_gint
make: *** [makefile:512: /scratch/project/WW3/model/exe/ww3_gint] Error 1

Would you please help debugging this installation issue? Thanks!

Hi @kadircs,
we have updated the build to use cmake. The current instructions for using the cmake build system are at: https://github.com/NOAA-EMC/WW3/blob/develop/model/README.md. Please see if using the cmake build will solve this install issue.
