Jessica,
We are using the ESMF interface wmesmfmd.ftn with COAMPS (v6.07) and Navy
ESPC (v7.00.X) and we are still making changes there.
I've never had any reason to look at the contents of /model/esmf/ so I don't
know if the code there is compiled into the coupled model (COAMPS/ESPC) when
ESMF is invoked, or if it is just vestigial code. I'm guessing it's the
latter, since I can't find that code in the COAMPS distribution.
Tim, can you confirm?
I also cc Alex as the Navy ESPC ESMF SME.

It was originally trying to run wmesmf but we haven't used it at EMC in several years, and I didn't know if you were still using it or not. If not, perhaps we can just delete? If you agree I can open a PR for it for possible deletion and see if anyone else says no? |

From Tim Campbell: "The model/esmf code was implemented for standalone testing of the esmf
interface. The model/esmf code is no longer used and can be removed."

@ErickRogers Are you or others still using code in model/esmf? Or is this obsolete code that can be removed?
