How to create an engine from custom dataset

Hello
I'd like to use the object following example by passing a custom model from my own dataset.
Essentially I would like it to follow a specific object (EG a plastic bag) whenever it comes in the picture, and if not, to scan for it.
I've built my dataset to recognize the items I need and created a model in roboflow but can't seem to get it to work here. I even tried integrating the yolov5 model with no luck. Does anyone have examples or other guidance I could look at to accomplish my goal?
