Calling data set from ipfs

This is likely a newb question, but is there a way I can call a CAR file from IPFS when I run the program to create the transform.json? Reason for this is that I would like to share my NERFs without having people have to download the entire data set. I figure if I can load the data set to ipfs or another webstorage location and calculate the json, all I would need to do is share the json for people to process the nerf themselves.
