Move Theme Toggle (Light/Dark Mode) from Footer to Navigation Bar

Describe the feature

Request:

Move the light/dark mode toggle button from the footer to the navigation bar at the top of the page.

Why this matters:

• Discoverability: Nearly all modern websites (GitHub, Twitter, etc.) place theme switchers in the header/nav bar because that's where users instinctively look for UI controls.
• User convenience: Dark mode users shouldn't have to scroll to the bottom of every page to switch themes.
• Industry standards: Footer placement is typically reserved for secondary links (ToS, copyright), not interactive elements.

Implementation notes:

• Ideal position: Top-right corner of the nav bar, near user profile/icons
• Should remain visible on both desktop and mobile (consider adding to mobile menu if space is limited)
• Keep the same intuitive icons (sun/moon or toggle style)

Bonus benefits:

• May increase theme switching usage (easier access = more engagement)
• Creates visual consistency with other major platforms

Have to disagree with that reasoning under the "Why this matters" section. Github appears to bury its Dark default under .../settings/appearance and not the header. While we don't have Twitter/X, this guide explains they have it under settings, as well.

While it would be nice to have every UI control at the ready, it's standard to delegate less-used features to settings or the footer (as much as we don't like that either). Xenforo puts theirs in the footer (create a demo), and even newer sites like Modrinth put theirs in their settings page.

Your implementation looks nice, but might better serve as an optional theme or add-on.

I have to agree with both sides. It’s a rarely used feature. However, the position at the bottom isn’t optimal, and on top of that, it doesn’t look good either.
