Tanks

PvP offline game - players control tanks that can aim and fire at each other.

Note: Clone the git repo into a folder and just click on run.sh to play!

Gameplay Overview

  • Welcome to the tank warfare game! Battle it out with your friends in a thrilling tank combat experience.
  • Control your tank's movement, aim your turret, and strategize your shots to outmaneuver and outgun your opponents.

Levels

  • You can customize your level by inserting your text files containing characters that define the terrain, player positions, and trees. Think of it as your canvas for tank warfare creativity! as you want.
  • By default, the game will have 3 levels:
    • Snow (level 1)
    • image
    • Desert (level 2)
    • image
    • Plain (level 3)

Tank Control

  • Take charge of your tank's movements and firepower.
  • Use the keyboard controls to:

    • Maneuver your tank across the terrain (RIGHT/LEFT ARROW)

    • Adjust your turret's angle (Press W to increase the power, S to decrease the power)

    • Vary your shot's power level (UP/DOWN ARROW)

      • Every time you move, the fuel got deducted (1px / 1 fuel credit), indicated on the HUD:image
      • Your max power = to your current health: image
      • Players take turns shooting by pressing SPACE

Be strategic with your movements and shots to dominate the battlefield!

Projectiles and Explosions

  • Fire powerful projectiles from your tank, causing explosions on impact (max 60 explosion damage).

Shoots

  • Watch out for the blast radius and strategize your shots to outmaneuver your opponents.
  • Your projectile is affected by the current wind! (dynamic-wind) image

Game-changer: PARACHUTES image

  • Picture this: your tank hovering in midair, the terrain below crumbling from the impact of a projectile.
  • That's when you deploy your trusty parachute, gently guiding your tank down at a controlled pace, unscathed. But watch out, you've only got three parachutes per game!
  • If you're out of parachutes, brace for impact as your tank falls faster, taking damage with each pixel of height.

It's all about timing and resource management in the midst of chaos!

Powerups and Upgrades

  • Earn currency from scoring hits and use them to buy powerups:
  • Repair kits (R) - cost 20: repairs the player’s tank by increasing health by 20.
  • Additional fuel (F) - cost 10: increase the player’s remaining fuel by 200.
  • Additional parachute (P) - cost 15: increase the player's remaining parachutes by 1.
  • ULTIMATE (X) - cost 20: the next shot fired by this player will have double the radius (60 instead of 30). Projectile damage is not increased but will affect tanks within the radius.

These can be game-changers in the heat of battle!

Scoreboard and Victory

  • Keep an eye on the scoreboard to track your progress.
  • The game ends when only one tank remains standing. Will you emerge as the ultimate tank commander?
