NRF9160 "Update Modem" Regression from v1.4.11 -> v2.0

Hi All,

I have a thingy91 and trying to update it with the latest nordic v2.0 programmer through nrfConnect fails. It is a 2 stage upload and gets through the first 1/2 successfully, but the second (2/2) get stuck at 10% and then issues a timeout error.

After trying multiple times I followed the below link to use downgrade to v1.4.11 instead and it worked immediately.

Hi, could you upgrade nRF Connect for Desktop to 3.8 and Programmer 2.0, it should no longer have step 1 or 2, instead it should have detailed progress message.

Hi, sorry I think I poorly described the situation.

After updating from nrfConnect v1.4.11 => v2.0 and installing the new programmer v2.0 version, Update Modem is no longer operational.

The new version doesn't state step 1 and step 2, but it does do 2 tasks that load up the status bar. I have taken a few screenshots trying to annotate the above.
The final error is:
Modem DFU failed with error: async task failure for id: 248373231800 msg: Error when programming through MCUBoot: Unable to program hex file from buffer.. Error code: 603 (Timeout).
I also noticed that when doing the upload with v1.4.11 that the second step DOES actually take a while before its status bar does something, so likely the timeout period just needs to be extended.

Thank you for reporting the issue. We are currently planning to look into the issue soon. Could you please provide your hardware version of your Thingy91? It has hardware version and production week printed on the device, e.g. 1.5.0 and 2020.10.

The work around was to add v3.7 URL as a source, then install the old programmer version.
