IPv6 hosts file points to localhost instead of non-routable

I don't actually use the hosts file so sorry if this is a known bug somewhere (I would expect a lot of software that reuses this format to not even care for the address here, but I'm not sure), but this caught me off guard, shouldn't it be "::"? (yes, that's 0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000)

It might be [::] as well, not sure, again I don't use hosts files

Alright I just tested here on Linux with:

:: gov.br
:: www.gov.br

and it worked, I'm guessing it should also work for Windows

Is IPv6 hosts even usually needed? It seems when you set any of these A and AAAA get 'reset'

We can even ask: is the host format needed? The https://oisd.nl/ lists have dropped it (along with the domains file, which is actually useful for redistribution and other tinkering).

My rationale is that it's automated: it's implemented and maintained at no cost on my part. The only unknown being: is somebody actually using it? I've received no bug report on this format so either it works... Either nobody uses it. The easiest way to get a reaction would be to remove it and see if somebody complains, but that would be mean.

I'm gonna be honest: I have no clue. I also don't use hosts but it was in the list of distributed formats used by another list so I also threw it in as generating it was no effort at all. It was a couple years ago at this point so I forgot any research I've done on the format and IPv6. It'd be best if we can get someone who actually uses it to chime in.
