Brand and Community Alignment

The .NET community and NuGet represent professionalism, inclusivity, and constructive technical discourse. X has increasingly become associated with:

  • Amplification of misinformation and harassment
  • Degraded content moderation and trust & safety policies
  • A platform culture that's shifted away from professional/technical discourse
  • Controversial ownership that has alienated many in the tech community

Practical Considerations

  1. Low usage - Share buttons generally have abysmal click-through rates (often <0.5%). The feature likely provides minimal value. https://www.adweek.com/digital/report-moovweb-social-share-buttons/

  2. Developer migration - From my personal observations, much of the .NET developer community has migrated to alternatives like Bluesky and/or Mastodon.
