DTB Overlays Jetson Orin Nano

Hello all,

I am looking for ways I can apply a runtime overlay without the need to do a full reflash (swupdate) and was wondering if this is even possible.

For context, I am using the latest scarthgap branch of meta-tegra and was following this guide:

I'd appreciate any pointers.

There's a section on that page about applying runtime overlays using extlinux.conf. The commits to support this should cherry pick onto scarthgap I believe, haven't tested this myself.

Are your referring to https://github.com/OE4T/meta-tegra/wiki/extlinux.conf-support#uboot_extlinux_fdtoverlays ?

I am confused since this mentions UBOOT overlays, but correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the orin nano not use uboot but UEFI?

Yea the uboot name is a bit of a holdover from previous jetpack releases which supported and used uboot and also related to the fact that the yocto layer support for uboot extlinux generation is used to generate extlinux.conf files used for l4t launcher in UEFI. It's still used with UEFI in other words despite having uboot in the name

Should this be it's own recipe to compile the dtb and then installed into the /boot directory?

Also, I am currently applying a overlay through tegra plugin manager to activate the SPI pins. Should I keep ths or also apply them through the extconflinux file?
