Is there any plan to upgrade to linux-yocto ver6.18 in NVIDIA yocto project

Hi NVIDIA experts,

I cloned meta-tegra repo, and checked the master and wip-l4t-r38.4.0, I found out both of them still use the linux-yocto 6.12.
Could you please tell me, is there any plan to upgrade to linux-yocto ver6.18 in NVIDIA yocto project?

We have had some discussions around this, and the tentative plan is to upgrade the linux-yocto recipe to 6.18 with the next LTS branch, around April this year.

That said, if you need a 6.18-based kernel now, you could try it.

Before upgrading linux-yocto to v6.18, I tried to build the original yocto project with below command
git clone https://github.com/OE4T/tegra-demo-distro.git
cd tegra-demo-distro
git checkout wip-l4t-r38.4.0
git submodule update --init
. ./setup-env --machine p3737-0000-p3701-0005 build-p3737-0000-p3701-0005
bitbake demo-image-sato

But there are some deb packages downloading failure.

I got the reason why I can not build successfully. For the wip-l4t-r38.4.0, I can only build project for Thor series SoC.
In other works, both NVIDIA ycoto community and NVIDIA official do not declare to support Orin series SoC based on latest JetPack SDK 7.1

As you said before, kernel version will be upgrade linux-ycoto v6.18 in Yocto 6.0, about April, 2026.
Could you please help to confirm which JetPack SDK is used, JetPack 6.2.1 or 7.2?
I checked with NVIDIA Roadmap, the JetPack SDK 7.2 that supports for Nvidia Orin series SoC may be released in May or June.
So, I guess, in April, 2026 after upgrading to linux-yocto 6.18, it will work with JetPack SDK 6.2.1 for NVIDIA Orin series, is it right?

You should be able to try with the master branch, which is on R36.4.4.

My steps to upgrade kernel to linux-yocto v6.18 as below, and work with Jetson Linux 36.4.4
git clone https://github.com/OE4T/tegra-demo-distro.git
cd tegra-demo-distro
git checkout master
git submodule update --init
. ./setup-env --machine p3737-0000-p3701-0005 build-p3737-0000-p3701-0005
bitbake demo-image-sato

I have fixed building issues for nvidia-kernel-oot code after upgrading linux-yocto to v6.18.
I am not sure whether I am allowed to submit pull-request to the sub repos of nvidia-kernel-oot, so could you please tell me how can I send patches to you. I hope my effort can make a little contribution to community, and reduce your effort, and speed up your progress to upgrade sdk.

So far, I can boot up linux-yocto 6.18 with Jetson Linux 36.4.4 on NVIDIA Orin AGX board, and there is graphics on HDMI monitor.
But there is still lots of error during booting, I still need to improve them.
