Description
When an add-in with multiple languages for the button label (the DisplayName property in the manifest) is installed, the label only displays in the default value and does not translate into other languages, even when the user's settings are changed to display Outlook in a different language. I observed this behavior on OWA in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge, and in New Outlook.
Your Environment
- Platform [PC desktop, Mac, iOS, Office on the web]: OWA and New Outlook
- Host [Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.]: Outlook
- Operating System: Windows
- Browser (if using Office on the web): Chrome, Firefox, Edge
Expected behavior
If a user changes their settings to display Outlook in a language with a translation in the DisplayName property, the button label should be displayed in that language.
Current behavior
The button label is always the default value for DisplayName.
Steps to reproduce
- Install the manifest attached to this issue. This manifest was created by adding new languages to the manifest in this sample https://github.com/OfficeDev/Office-Add-in-samples/tree/main/Samples/hello-world/outlook-hello-world
- Change the Outlook language in OWA by going to View->View Settings->General->Language and Time->Language (Country/Region). Select "English (United States).
- Open an email and go to the Apps menu. The button label says "Hello world default" instead of "Hello world en" or "Hello world en-us".
- Change the Outlook language to "français (France).
- Open an email and go to the Apps menu. The button label says "Hello world default" instead of "Hello world fr" or "Hello world fr-fr".
