Developer Support Request: Release of Kernel Manifest and Build Configuration for OnePlus Nord 3 (MT6983)

We, the members of the third-party developer community, are writing to express our gratitude for the release of the kernel source code for the OnePlus Nord 3. This is a vital first step in enabling custom development, and we appreciate your commitment to the open-source community.
To further facilitate the development of custom ROMs and kernels for this device, we would like to formally request your assistance in addressing two critical roadblocks that are currently hindering progress. The OnePlus Nord 3, based on the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 (MT6983) chipset, currently lacks some essential resources that are typically provided for your Snapdragon-based models.
Specifically, we are facing the following challenges:

• Absence of a Device Manifest File: Unlike many other OnePlus devices, a comprehensive XML manifest for the Nord 3 has not been made available. Such a manifest is crucial for developers to easily sync all the necessary device-specific, hardware, and vendor repositories required to build a functional AOSP-based ROM. Providing this would significantly streamline the development process and lower the barrier to entry for more developers.
• Incomplete Kernel Build Configuration: The currently available kernel source code appears to be missing a functional build configuration. When attempting to compile the kernel using the provided build.sh script, the process fails with errors. This suggests that a complete and working defconfig file, properly tailored for the Nord 3, is either missing or not correctly integrated into the build script.
  Providing these resources would be immensely beneficial, fostering a vibrant development community around the OnePlus Nord 3. A strong developer community leads to enhanced device longevity, greater user choice, and ultimately strengthens the OnePlus brand among tech enthusiasts.
  We kindly request that you consider releasing a full device manifest and a functional, out-of-the-box kernel build configuration for the OnePlus Nord 3 (MT6983).

MediaTek GKI kernels for 5.10 and 5.15 are built by default using MediaTek BSP environment which is fully proprietary, unlike Snapdragon chipset who are using kernel_manifest which is a fork of kernel/manifest available on AOSP source code.

You’ll have to adapt the build config yourself in order to compile MediaTek GKI kernels with AOSP kernel/manifest available to the corresponding branch of your kernel version.

Note that some branch of OPlus MediaTek GKI kernels include OPlus build script but it doesn’t work outside their BSP environment too as it requires their proprietary tools and etc.
