[BUG] Fresh Repo Clone on Windows Fails

Summary

For some reason when I attempt to clone the repo on Windows using GitHub desktop this error is thrown. This problem does not appear to afflict Unix based operating systems. Perhaps the diagram noted in the error message has a path that cannot be parsed by Windows systems?

Steps to Reproduce

• Attempt to Clone the proves-core-reference on a Windows Machine

Environment

• Windows 11
• Using GitHub Desktop
• Attempting to Clone Main Branch as of September 21, 2025

Do we support Windows? Typically, F Prime does not build on Windows.

@LeStarch when I opened this issue we were playing around with trying to use the uv environment as a means of allowing fprime to build successfully on Windows. After a little bit though it pretty quickly spiraled out of scope, so we stopped working on it. I have joked that the PROVES Kit should ship with a Mac Mini to make sure end users have a proper dev environment.

It is a little surprising that the repo doesn't even want to clone on Windows though. Not a huge constraint, but a bit of a limitation for me personally as a hybrid Windows / MacOS user.
