This wiki contains more detailed information than in the readme

Background

Brian is based on a previous research prototype fro people with dementia called Maavis. This provide an ultra simple touch interface with consistent screen layouts and navigation. It was developed in Mozilla XUL and XBL (precursor to web components) along with a Python component for Skype integration.

It also brings in ideas from another prototype designed for older people and those with low digital literacy called EasyOne. This was developed by Trace R&D Center University of Wisconsin Madison

Brian will combine features from both as well as new features. It will be implemented using HTML technologies.

Brian is also informed by work of the Cognitive and Learning Disabilities Accessibility Task Force
