It didn't seem clear to me whether the current issue regarding asymmetry #421 takes this into account, so I opened an independent feature request for 'custom' symmetry minutes. I couldn't find this information in CREATE_TRAINRUN.md.

In some cases, lines may have a slightly shifted (but consistent) symmetry minute, for example '58 in the below example:

While it may suffice to enter them as asymmetric times once this feature is available, it may also be convenient for symmetric timetables to set a custom symmetry time while for a full line (or a section, if this design option makes sense):

In this case (if custom symmetry times are activated), one may enter e.g. something like '58.5' or '58:30' (or if only minutes are feasibe, '58') and the times are shifting along this minute. It may also make sense to "lock" one direction for this shifting.

It could increase the use for the symmetric time functionality in my opinion.

Some of what you said will be actually part of the asymmetry issue we are currently dealing with.

The "node asymmetry" (breaking the 60' rule at nodes) will be reworked to be able to set times that don't match this 60' symmetry.

And right after that, we'll implement the possibility to set a different travel time for the "return trip", to achieve this asymmetry.

However, what's not planned (yet?) is to set a different "symmetry minute" at nodes (as you mentionned, 58.5 minutes instead of 60, i.e.). I find this idea nice, we might look for it after the 2 above features. In the mean time, when the asymmetry at nodes will be available, you will be able to fulfill this need anyway (but differently I agree, by setting manually the 2 times)

I suggest to let this issue open, to keep track of this potential feature.
