OpenShot won't run, no log, no error message nothing

I download it and install. I leave "launch openshot" checked in the setup. It doesnt start. Double click the desktop shortcut, nothing. Same if i run as admin. I get the loading cursor for a few seconds and then nothing. I tried restarting my computer and that did nothing.

Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Any method of launching the program like clicking the exe

Expected behavior:
The program launches or at least throws an error message

System Details:

• OpenShot 3.5.0 and 3.4.0 and v3.5.0-dev-daily-15735-e63a3837-48516e0b-x86_64
• Win10
• Decent laptop, program used to run normally on previous windows installation

Log Files:
openshot-qt.log is empty

1. Did you have a previous version running without any issues?
2. Free up as much disk space as possible.
3. Restart your computer.
4. Go to Add or Remove Programs and Uninstall OpenShot.
5. Now reinstall dev daily build #15735.
6. Leave the "Launch OpenShot" checked and see if it starts.
7. If it does not start try this:
   a. Open a command prompt (CMD).
   d. Change your director to c:\program files\openshot video editor.
   e. Type "openshot--qt-cli.exe --debug" excluding the quotes and press the Enter key.
   f. You will see some lines scroll in the CMD screen. Copy and paste as much as you can and share it so we can see what is going on.

I had a previous version running normally but i dont know which it was and cant check

Anyway i followed all your instructions and after running the command all i got was this line:
Loaded modules from: C:\Program Files\OpenShot Video Editor

1. I see that I had a typo in my in step 7.e. It should be "openshot-qt-cli.exe --debug". Sorry about that.
2. Let's try someting else for now with the assumption that OpenShot still did not start.
   a. Make a backup of c:\users\username.openshot_qt folder.
   b. Delete c:\users\username.openshot_qt folder.
   c. Run OpenShot normally via the shortcut on the desktop.
   d. If OpenShot did not start let's try running the Debug mode again.

• Open a CMD prompt.
• Change directory into c:\programs files\openshot video editor
• Run "openshot-qt-cli.exe --debug" without the quotes and also note the space between .exe and --debug.

deleted the .openshot_qt folder, everything behaved same as last time, program wont start and the debug command only gives that one line back

Hmmmm....not sure what to tell you. We've had many users running v3.5.0 now and barring a few issues, we haven't had anyone else reporting that OpenShot does not start.

So let's try a different approach:

1. Go to Add or Remove Programs and uninstall OpenShot.
2. Restart your computer.
3. Delete c:\users\username.openshot_qt folder (you should still have your backup).
4. Download v3.4.0: https://github.com/OpenShot/openshot-qt/releases/download/v3.4.0/OpenShot-v3.4.0-x86.exe
5. Install v3.4.0 and see if that works.

Let's get you to a point where you are operational then we can take the next step.

Did all that. when i finished setup (and left the launch box ticked) i got

Unable to execute file:
C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenShot Video Editor\openshot-qt.exe

CreateProcess failed; code 740.
The requested operation requires elevation.

I assumed by "requires elevation" it meant admin privileges so i ran openshot-qt.exe as admin and it did the same thing as usual (nothing)
I also tried the last daily build of 3.4.0 just so and it didnt do anything different

Something is possibly corrupted on your computer. I would run the following to verify the health of your computer:

Run the following from an elevated command prompt:

1. DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
2. sfc /scannow

Reboot between the two steps.

Try OpenShot again.
