Does the project also include Cell Switch On in xApp Power Saving in Cell Usage?

Energy Saving under Cell Utilization xApp performs only cell switch OFF, observing PRB usage for each cell.
Waht about cell SWITCH ON ? The xApp actually doesn't perform it.
Is the project roadmap planning to include it?
Does exist a branch of the project that already implement and shows this use case?

Hello @opistara,

Cell-on is already implemented in the ns-O-RAN-flexric side. However, the current static scenario without traffic or UE changes cannot initialize Cell-on. You need to create a dynamic scenario to enable full xApp operations.

Suppose that i start with a scenario that have 4 gNB (gnB2, gNB3, gNB4, gNB5) and 3 UEs(imsi_1, imsi_2, imsi_3).
imsi_1 is attacched to gNB2
imsi_2 is attached to gNB5
imsi_3 is attached to gNb2

The simulation goes on and at a certain point it happens that PRB usage in gNB5 go under the threshold (20%). Then gNB5 was switched off and imsi_2 was attached(by handover) to gNB2.
Now in gNB2 the are attacched all 3 UES.

The simulation goes on and at a certain point it happens that PRB usage in gNB2 overcome the upper threshold of 80%. It means that gNB2 is congestioned and packet are dropped. It is neccessary to switch ON gNB5 (or another gNB) and attach to it some UEs (for example only imsi_1 or both imsi_1 and imsi_2)
In this case it is necessary to sacrifice energy saving in order not to degrade the QOS Total TB Number of DL Errors per cell (dropped packet).
I hope that you understand my need. Is it a scenario plausible?

Hello @opistara,

The current cell turn-on trigger does not take cell load into account. However, the cell activation logic does exist, and you’re welcome to extend it if you're interested.

You can implement this by sending a new SUBSCRIPTION REQUEST or by modifying the existing logic based on your proposal.
