Looking for ways to rename a field in a content part

Hello.
As the title says, I am trying to rename a field from a content part.
Maybe I am wrong or have missed some of the documentation, but since I was not able to find a way to rename the field programmatically or through a json recipe I am trying to do it through an sql script.
I have the update script and it is working fine when running it directly in sql server on the cms database, but when I try to do it through a data migration I just receive a timeout.
What am I missing?
