[Discussion] Remove binary support for macOS 10.x #2974
Description
macOS 10.x has long since been deprecated by both Apple and Brew, making it more and more difficult to maintain support for this older platform.
A main benefit of this would be updating some dependencies used in distribution, notably Qt; which is sorely outdated at this point.
For reference:
Upstream Bitcoin moved to Qt 5.15 many years ago, thus requiring macOS 10.15 as a minimum supported macOS version.
Since then, upstream Bitcoin has moved to Qt 6.x, which is not supported in macOS 10.x at all.
This change would not absolutely disclude older macOS versions from running self-compiled versions of the Core wallet, but would end our support level for such an already discontinued OS version.
